Heat Pump

Functioning of a Heat Pump

An essential part of a central heating and cooling system, heat pump utilize the outside air to heat a home in winter and cool it in summer. A heat pump is a heat transporter constantly moving warm air from one place to another, to where it’s needed or not needed, depending on the season.

Heat energy is present even in the cold winter air. When it's cold outside, the heat pump extracts the heat present in this cold air and transfers it inside. When it’s warm outside, it extracts the heat from the air present inside your home and releases it outside, and acts like an air conditioner.

Maintenance of Heat Pumps

In order to increase the life of the heat pump and ensure its efficiency, the heat pump should be maintained at least once a year by professionals like those at P&B Faster Heating. Our expert technicians will clean the system, check the airflow and refrigerant charge, and inspect for dirt or obstructions in the ducts and coil. We’ll also correct thermostat operation, tighten electric connections, lubricate motors, and inspect the belts. In the meantime, you can help to keep your system running at peak performance by changing filters regularly and making sure the supply and return registers are clean. Our technicians will educate you about how to maintain the efficiency of your heat pump.

Troubleshooting and Repair Service

With the prolonged use, heat pumps start embracing some common issues such as leaking ducts, incorrect refrigerant charge, and low airflow. If your heat pump is acting up, try checking the thermostat to see that it’s set in the correct mode. If it’s operated by batteries, try installing new ones. If those steps don’t work, check both power sources for the pump—the circuit breaker and the power switch on the indoor unit. If the problems still persist or if in case you notice ice building up on the coil, it’s time to give us a call for repair service and let us serve you. The problem would be sorted in no time.

Hassle-free Installation Service

P&B Faster Heating heat pumps efficiently deliver air conditioning and heating. Unlike other heat pumps, our heat pumps do not need ducts to deliver the conditioned air. Ductless units are installed directly in the rooms and are connected to an outdoor unit. Standard heat pumps combine heating and cooling in one integrated unit. Our certified technicians make installation an easy and quick task. Our experts will assist you in choosing the most appropriate unit for your home.

Two Types of Pumps

  • Air Source Heat Pump

An air source heat pump (ASHP) functions by transferringthe heat from the outside air into a building as either hot air, hot water in a radiator or underfloor heating circuit, or into a domestic hot water supply.A standard domestic heat pump will provide heat efficiently even when the outside temperature is as low as −15°C.

  • Ground Source Heat Pump

Ground source heat pumps (GSHP) extract the heat from underground rather than from the air outside. The temperature at around 7 meters below the surface of the ground remains at a steady temperature depending on your location. This means that the GSHP continues to work as efficiently during the winter as at any other time of year.
